Are you considering a new career? The demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals has never been higher with literally millions of positions vacant.
Boise State University’s online Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience and online Master of Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience can help you make a cybersecurity career change, position yourself for success and potentially continue your education to increase your knowledge and marketability.
The programs prepare you to anticipate, detect, mitigate and manage threats across cyber, physical and interdependent infrastructure systems. With an emphasis on the interconnectedness of these systems, you will learn to take a holistic approach to creating resilient systems to facilitate your cybersecurity career change.
Unlike other programs devoted to mathematics or computer science, Boise State’s approach to cyber operations centers on securing people, processes and technology together. You will achieve true resilience with this approach, making the field accessible and relevant to students from all backgrounds.
With the combination of curiosity, a growth mindset and a commitment to learning, you can thrive in this program and in the broader field of cybersecurity.
Each program option prepares you to become a cybersecurity professional with practical skills in operational thinking, tools and methodologies that reduce risk and strengthen system resilience.
Tailor your learning
The bachelor’s degree program options further allow you to facilitate your move to make a cybersecurity career change with three optional certificates that can be added to a bachelor’s degree or earned as stand-alone credentials. These 12-credit cyber certificates can be completed in as few as two semesters:
- Certificate in Cyber Operations: Learn to create and protect resilient systems and networks with an education that is more than theory-based and centered on real-world application.
- Certificate in Applied Computing, Systems and Network: Learn the fundamental principles of secure design, computational thinking, cloud computing, python programming and more.
- Certificate in Cyber for All: All students, regardless of major, need to understand fundamental cyber defense skills and the implications of good versus bad cyber hygiene. This certificate bridges that gap.
The master’s degree offers a trio of nine-credit certificate options that can be earned as part of the degree or as a stand-alone credential and completed in as few as two semesters. They are:
- Graduate Certificate in Analyst and Threat Intelligence: Centered in real-world application, this option prepares you to be an industry-ready professional and create and protect resilient systems and networks through analytics and threat intelligence.
- Graduate Certificate in Governance Policy Administration: Learn to make decisions based on the ethics, laws, policies and governance of the cybersecurity field.
- Graduate Certificate in Resilience Engineering: Prepare to analyze operation and resiliency policies, metrics, testing and security solutions for an entity using both rigorous risk assessment and threat intelligence people, processes, tools and measures.
The courses in the undergraduate and graduate degree programs are taught by industry practitioners with real-world experience in physical and cyber operations, providing you with insight into how theory translates to practice. This direct connection to the field also creates valuable opportunities for mentorship and career networking.
Boise State’s online cybersecurity programs are designed to launch or advance your career in business, academia and government. You will gain the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to maintain the operational effectiveness of today’s complex systems.
The customizable curriculum allows you to engage with thoughtfully grouped courses, certificates, minors and pathways that align with your long-term goals. By focusing coursework on your area of interest, you are ready to make a cybersecurity career change earlier and without additional investment.
