The First Forward Program
The First Forward Program is designed to support first-year, first-generation students who live off campus by connecting them with a Peer Navigator and a community of fellow new students. “First-generation” students are students who will be the first in their family to earn a college degree. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about off-campus resources, attend campus events, and receive the support they need to thrive during their first semester. First-gen students may have siblings who have graduated college, but their parents will not have
Student Voices
Two of our 2022 cohort students describe why they joined a mentorship program, what they enjoyed most about the support they received, how their peer navigator improved their Boise State experience, and what knowledge they took away.
Program expectations
- Attend group meetings hosted by your Peer Navigator twice a month
- Be engaged and ask questions
- Take advantage of shared resources and opportunities
Support Resources
First-year, first-generation, off-campus students and their supporters have many ways to learn about the resources and support available at Boise State.
The First Forward Program is led by our team of Peer Navigators—experienced student leaders and former Orientation Leaders—who are dedicated to helping students living off campus have a smooth and successful start. Through regular group meetings and personalized guidance, Peer Navigators help participants feel connected, informed, and supported throughout their first semester.
