Alabama Licensure Information
Pupil Personnel Certificate or State Licensure to Practice as School Counselor:
Boise State University’s Masters of Arts in Counseling, School Counseling Cognate meets professional licensure or certificate standards and makes students eligible for recommendation for school counselor certification in the state of Alabama. The Masters of Counseling program is accredited by CACREP and students are required to complete a supervised minimum 100 hour practicum and 700 hour internship, of which 600 hours must be in a school setting including elementary, middle/junior high, and high school levels. LPC to Practice as a Professional Counselor:
Boise State University’s Master of Arts in Counseling, School Counseling Cognate meets professional licensure standards in the state of Alabama upon meeting the following additional requirements including completion of a state appropriate exam (NCE). The Masters of Counseling program is accredited by CACREP and students are required to complete a supervised minimum 100 hour practicum and 700 hour internship, of which 600 hours must be in a school setting including elementary, middle/junior high, and high school levels.
