The Community Center

The Community Center (TCC) is committed to uniting the LGBTQA community through educational and developmental programs. As well as, providing resources for individuals new and old to the LGBTQA community for education and find much needed support.

Gender Equity Center

The Gender Equity Center (formerly the Women’s Center) is a friendly, supportive environment for people of all gender identities to explore, celebrate, and educate the campus community about gender equity.

Idaho Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues in Counseling

The mission of IALGBTIC is to improve the counseling services and quality of life for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals through education and advocacy. We believe all individuals should be free to develop their full potential regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. We recognize the unique challenges LGBTQ+ individuals face as a result of systemic oppression.

LGBT Organizations in Southwest Idaho

Although southeast Idaho is a great place to live—especially for those who love the outdoors—it is not the most welcoming to LGBT individuals. Building a sense of belonging is a shared responsibility, especially for those of us living in smaller communities on this side of the state. We can stand united to fight discrimination, to end school bullying—and we might as well have fun in the process! This website is being developed to inform everyone of LGBT resources currently available in Southeast Idaho. It is my hope that we will continue to build a strong LGBT community to make our home an even better place to live.

LGBTQ Resources for Idaho State University

We seek to provide the campus with a variety of educational and informative resources, with a goal to create and maintain a safe environment for all students, faculty, staff, and guests, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.

LGBTQA Office of The University of Idaho

The LGBTQA Office provides a safe and welcoming space for students and other members of the university community to explore aspects of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression in an open and non-judgmental atmosphere. Our vision is for UI to become a campus that promotes the full inclusion of LGBTQA students, faculty and staff. To this end, we work together to eliminate homophobia, heterosexism and gender identity oppression.

LGBTQIA Resources at the Library

Access Services is highlighting some of the library’s LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Queer, Intersex, Asexual) resources. Laura Coleman has brought together a sampling of DVDs and books in a wonderful display at the Circulation Desk. Tristan Fishman, Access Services student lead, has graciously loaned his flag for our display.

Human Rights Campaigns Safety Planning

The HRC know that LGBTQ youth too often face abuse and neglect around their sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE), and that this rejection increases their risk for HIV infection, suicide, and homelessness. An agency’s safety plan should include considerations of the unique risk factors for LGBTQ youth at all points in the placement process (e.g. finding affirming families, supporting and training resource parents, etc.); especially for LGBTQ young people who come out to a family that is not affirming.

LGBT HealthLink

LGBT HealthLink, formerly The Network for LGBT Health Equity, is a community-driven network of experts and professionals looking to enhance LGBT health by reducing tobacco-, cancer-, and other health-disparities within our communities. We are one of eight CDC-funded tobacco and cancer disparity networks. We advance these issues primarily by linking people and information to educate on best practices.

OutCare

OutCare Health is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the purpose of providing extensive information and education on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) healthcare. OutCare recognizes the unique health needs of LGBTQ individuals and connects them with the most appropriate healthcare providers, resources, and events. Likewise, OutCare strives to better educate medical students, supplement healthcare providers, and energize communities to deliver high-quality, culturally competent, unbiased healthcare.

The Center

Our LGBT communities face a number of health disparities, including a greater risk for alcohol and substance use. To combat this, The Center offers assistance for people struggling with substance use. This site provides additional resources and people to talk to who are interested in recovery specific for LGBTQIA community members.

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning youth. There is also information about the TrevorLifeLine 1-866-488-7386.
 
 

This Free Life Campaign

“This Free Life” aims to reach LGBT young adults by appealing to their shared values, similar life experiences and common interests. The campaign reflects LGBT young adults’ desire to be “free” as it relates to their lives and experiences, and connects this desire to the importance of being free from tobacco. The essence of the campaign is expressed through its tagline: “Freedom to Be, Tobacco-Free.”

YMSM+LGBT

The Center of Excellence on Racial and Ethnic Minority Young Men Who Have Sex with Men and Other Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Populations (YMSM+LGBT CoE) was established to help providers develop skills to deliver culturally-responsive and evidence based prevention and treatment services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations dealing with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Additionally, the CoE will provide a variety of innovative training and technical assistance resources, including training curricula, webinars, and a website clearinghouse to help providers working with LGBT populations and racial/ethnic minority young men who have sex with men (ages 18-26).
