MADD
Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving, drugged driving and underage drinking. MADD also supports drunk and drugged driving victims and survivors at no charge through local MADD victim advocates and our 24-Hour Victim Helpline 1-877-MADD-HELP.
Natural High
Every day youth are bombarded with mixed messages about drugs and alcohol – that they’re cool and that everybody who’s cool is using them. We believe it’s time for a new social norm – one that empowers youth to find what they truly love to do –activities that inspire them to turn their back on drugs and alcohol, to establish their true identities, and to influence their peers to live a drug-free life. SADD
Students Against Destructive Decisions is accomplished by creating, equipping, and sustaining a network of student-run chapters in schools and communities focused on peer-to-peer education. SADD fosters a sense of belonging and promotes resiliency, leadership, and advocacy skills so that young people make positive life decisions that will carry them throughout life.
SAMSHA Talk. They Hear You.
SAMHSA’s underage drinking prevention campaign helps parents and caregivers start talking to their children early about the dangers of alcohol. The “Talk. They Hear You.” Underage Drinking Prevention National Media Campaign empowers parents and caregivers to talk with children early about alcohol and other drug use. Also available in Spanish.
Social Hosting
The Partnership at Drugfree.org and The Parents Translational Research Center at the Treatment Research Institute (TRI) developed this web application and resource to help parents understand social hosting laws in their state.
Stop Underage Drinking
The Federal Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking is working with governments and organizations at the state, territory, and local levels to reduce and prevent underage drinking and its consequences.
The Ultimate Party Foul
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Ad Council launch first-ever public service campaign targeting underage drinking and driving. Nearly one-third of young drivers killed in traffic crashes have alcohol in their system; new PSAs depict drinking and driving as the Ultimate Party Foul.
