Christian Cooper, host of National Geographic’s documentary show Extraordinary Birder and author of Better Living Through Birding: Notes from a Black Man in the Natural World, joined Boise State University Raptor Research Center’s Master of Science in Raptor Biology student Zoe Bonerbo on April 18, 2025, to go birding in the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, where Bonerbo is currently conducting her field research on nesting Prairie Falcons. Cooper and Bonerbo’s birding excursion was highlighted by sightings of Golden Eagles and Prairie Falcons.

Cooper’s visit was co-hosted by Boise State’s The Idea of Nature lecture series and the Golden Eagle Audubon Society, and each program hosted him for talks during his time in Boise.
