Radiologic Sciences Program
Professional Accreditation
The Department of Radiologic Sciences Associate in Applied Science Program is accredited by the JRCERT. The next accreditation review is due 08/01/2026.
Associate of Applied Science – Radiologic Sciences Degree Curriculum
The Associate of Applied Science Degree Curriculum exceeds 65 semester credits and satisfies all general education requirements and all professional curricular requirements.
Boise State University Department of Radiologic Sciences Imaging Sciences Program
The Degree Completion Program allows students to enroll once they have met the following criteria:
- Successfully completed an Associate Degree (AS, AAS, AA) in the field of imaging sciences
- Earned a medical imaging credential through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent, such as a sonography credential through the ARDMS
- Admitted to Boise State University and the Imaging Sciences Program
The Imaging Sciences Program is designed for Registered Imaging Professionals who want to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Imaging Sciences. The student is required to complete 33 credits (14 courses) plus any missing prerequisite or university foundations courses; each of the courses is available online. Because the student is required to be a credentialed medical imaging professional as a pre-requisite for the program, there are no clinical courses in the Imaging Sciences Program.
Courses are delivered via Canvas, which is a web-based, course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online. Canvas enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, live audio-visual discussions, online quizzes, an academic resource center and more.
Online courses typically are more time-intensive than typical face-to-face courses. Students will be required to do a significant amount of reading, online posting, writing papers and other online activities; therefore, the student must be motivated and willing to allocate a considerable amount of time for each course. For this reason, it is not recommended that students working full-time take more than two or three courses per semester.
Students who earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree must also satisfy all University Foundations (university general core curriculum) requirements. The student may complete each of the requirements before transferring to Boise State University or concurrently while in the Imaging Sciences program.
Because graduates from the Radiologic Sciences Program of Yakima Valley College (YVC) earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree and are eligible to take the ARRT national credentialing exam, YVC graduates should meet the first two admission requirements. Once the student has passed the necessary examinations to earn the credential and has been admitted to Boise State University, the student may apply to the Department of Radiologic Sciences Imaging Sciences Bachelor’s Degree Program.
If the student earns an Associate of Science Degree or an Associate of Arts Degree from YVC, as well as the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Sciences, the student will only have to complete the programmatic prerequisites and the 33 credits (IMGSCI and HLTH prefixed courses as listed below) required for Associate of Science Degree graduates.

Boise State University Department of Respiratory Care Degree Advancement Program
The BSRC-DAP allows students to enroll in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Care from Boise State University once they have met the following criteria:
- Earned an Associate of Science, an Associate of Arts, or an Associate of Arts and Science in Respiratory Care, from a regionally accredited institution whose Respiratory Care program is accredited by CoARC,
- Successfully completed at least 64 semester credit hours,
- Earned the credential Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Admitted to Boise State University
Final decision for acceptance rests with the Respiratory Care department
The Degree Advancement Program is designed for Registered Respiratory Therapists who want to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Care. The student is required to complete 30 upper-division credits ( 10 courses); each of the courses is available online. Because the student is required to be a Registered Respiratory Therapist as a pre-requisite for the program, there are no clinical courses in the BSRC-DAP.
Courses are delivered via BlackBoard, which is a web-based, course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online. BlackBoard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, live
audio-visual discussions, online quizzes, an academic resource center and more.
Online courses typically are more time-intensive than typical face-to-face courses. Students will be required to do a significant amount of reading, online posting, writing of papers and other online activities; therefore, the student must be motivated and willing to allocate a considerable amount of time for each course. For this reason, it is not recommended that students take more than two courses per seven-week session.
Because graduates of North Shore Community College earn an Associate of Science Degree and the students earn at least 68 credits, North Shore Community College graduates will meet the first two admission requirements. Once the student has passed the necessary NBRC Examinations to earn the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, and upon acceptance to Boise State University, the student may be admitted to the BSRC-DAP.
