The Creative Writing Master of Fine Arts Program and the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing announces the 2022 MFA Reading Series author line-up for the fall. The Reading Series will feature a book launch for Professor Kerri Webster, as well as readings by visiting authors Joy Williams, Aditi Machado and Cody-Rose Clevidence. Free and open to the public, the MFA Reading Series brings renowned writers to the Boise State campus every year. All readings will take place in the Hemingway Center on the Boise State campus. Joy Williams

Joy Williams, one of the most celebrated American authors at work today, has written novels, collections of short stories, and “Ill Nature,” a collection of essays. In 2021, the Library of Congress honored Williams with the Prize for American Fiction, which recognizes a lifetime of distinguished work. Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress who conferred the award, said, “[Williams’s] work reveals the strange and unsettling grace just beneath the surface of our lives. In a story, a moment, a single sentence, it can force us to reimagine how we see ourselves, how we understand each other — and how we relate to the natural world.” Among her many honors, Williams has won the Rea Award for the Short Story and the Strauss Living Fund from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. A finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize, Williams lives in Tucson, Arizona, and Laramie, Wyoming.
Aditi Machado

Aditi Machado writes and translates poems and essays, including her second book of poems “Emporium,” published by Nightboat in 2020, which received the James Laughlin Award. Her other works include the poetry collection “Some Beheadings” (Nightboat, 2017), a translation from the French of Farid Tali’s “Prosopopoeia” (Action Books, 2016), and several chapbooks. Machado’s work has appeared in Lana Turner, Volt, The Chicago Review, Western Humanities Review, and Jacket2. A former Poetry Editor for Asymptote, she currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati.
Cody-Rose Clevidence

Cody-Rose Clevidence has written several collection of poetry, including “Aux Arc / Trypt Ich” (Nightboat, 2021), “Listen My Friend,” “This is the Dream I Dreamed Last Night” (The Song Cave, 2021), “Flung/Throne” (Ahsahta, 2018) and “BEAST FEAST” (Ahsahta Press, 2014), as well as several chapbooks, most recently “DEARTH/ God’s Green Mirth,” from Fonograph. They live in the Arkansas Ozarks with two stunningly handsome dogs and one insane cat.
