The Film Speaker Series presents Doug Campbell, a prolific director and screenwriter. Campbell will give a presentation at 7 PM on Friday, September 15 in the Great Hall of the Hemingway Center. This event is free and open to the public.

Doug Campbell works as a director and screenwriter. Best known for his work in thrillers and dramas, Campbell directed over 54 feature films, mostly for television, many of which air on a rotating basis. His films include “The Tomorrow Man,” nominated for Best New Live Action Feature, Best Director and Best Screenplay in the DVD Premiere Awards sponsored by Daily Variety Magazine. The film won the Best Director Award. Campbell grew up in the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles, making his first Super-8 when he was 14. After studying under Sandy Mackendrick at Cal Arts, Doug wrote and directed his first feature at age 24. An actor’s director, Doug runs a well-organized, fun, fast-paced set. Campbell currently teaches screenwriting, film directing and acting for film. Over the last 20 years, he has taught at Academy of Art University, California Institute of the Arts and Tokyo Film Center College of Arts. “Filmmaking is something I fell in love with as a kid, and I can’t imagine doing anything else,” Campbell said.
