Desmond Banks, PhD, MPH

Dr. Desmond Banks is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Public and Population Health. Dr. Banks has more than 15 years of experience in research, evaluation and care coordination among disadvantaged populations.

Most recently, Desmond worked for over six years as health policy consultant where he provided technical assistance to State Medicaid Agencies, health plans, technology vendors, and other Medicaid stakeholders.
Desmond’s research interests include social determinants of health, health disparities, health equity, chronic disease and program evaluation.

Desmond earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in public health policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he also earned a Certificate in Health Disparities. He earned a Bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Columbia University and a Master of Public Health degree from Hunter College−City University of New York.
