About the Program
The HERC Fellowship is a paid, 10-week research experience offered to undergraduate students by the Institute for STEM & Diversity Initiatives, during the fall and spring semesters. This fellowship gives students a $3,000 stipend, additional travel funds, and the opportunity to present their research. The HERC Fellowship is open to all STEM majors, including: students in natural sciences, social sciences, and health sciences. This program encourages first year researchers to apply. The HERC fellowship is funded by the Idaho State Board of Education.
In addition, students must have their faculty mentor apply and nominate them for the fellowship. In order for students to be selected, both the student and faculty mentor applications must be submitted. HERC Fellows are selected for fall and spring semesters.
All applications are due by the end of the day on April 1st!
HERC fellows are paired with their faculty mentor who nominated them. Faculty mentors can nominate more than one student for the fellowship. We highly encourage first time research students. This research experience allows fellows to complete 10 hours of research a week for ten weeks during the fall or spring semester.
