Ways to Find Virtual Relief During Finals Week

Finals week can be the most stressful time of the semester, for sure. Sometimes it feels almost impossible to sneak in a much-needed break in between assignments, essays, and final projects. Especially now, since campus is closed, a lot of us are feeling a bit lost, as if we’re stranded on our own little study island. We’ve put together a list of a few virtual ways you can still take a mental break from all the cramming happening during finals week.

Take a puppy break on Instagram

It’s become tradition at Boise State to have pets on campus to take minds off of finals, even if for just a few minutes. Let’s keep that tradition alive! Even though we can’t be together right now, we can still share photos of our pets. Tune into @getinvolvedbsu on Instagram stories to see your fellow student’s cutest pet pics. You can also send in a picture that you’d like to have featured on the page.

Stay active, get a free T-shirt

Sometimes when you’re really stuck on a project, going for a walk, a run, or getting in a quick workout can give you the boost of energy you need to come up with an answer. That’s why Campus Rec is also hosting a virtual 5k event and is helping you out with some video workouts on the Rec YouTube channel. From now until May 8, if you run a 5k and share your success with the Rec, you’ll receive an intramural champ shirt.

Share your success with fellow Broncos on Instagram

Right now we all need some inspiration to make it through finals week. That’s why sharing your successes, no matter how small, can be just the thing to lift up all of our spirits. Use some Instagram story templates and share with your friends and Broncos alike. Let everyone know what you’re doing to make it through finals and what accomplishments you’re super proud of this semester. Get creative with GIFs, your own tips and tricks, and make sure to tag @getinvolvedbsu on Instagram and nominate other Broncos to participate.

Relax with Pulse Radio and watch a local concert

On May 4 at 7 p.m. the Boise State Student Media station, Pulse Radio, will be airing a live interview and concert with the band Red Light Challenge. Just because we’re at home, doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate fantastic local artists. This is a wonderful opportunity to get connected with artists in our community and stay up to date on new music. It will be streamed live via the @redlightchallenge Instagram page.

Get in on some brain food

When you’re busy, it’s easy to accidentally skip a meal or forget study snacks when your brain needs them most. There are great food resources at the BroncoFit Nutrition page. And Campus Rec is here to remind you that you can’t do your best if you’re not nourishing your mind and body. Plus, they have some tasty looking snack ideas for you to check out as well. Take a look, and submit your own ideas at @boisestaterec on Instagram.

Celebrate your last final by sharing it on Instagram

There’s no better feeling than turning in that last final assignment and your peers want to share that moment with you! Tag @getinvolvedbsu in your Instagram story showing you sending off your final project and celebrating being done for the semester. Everyone who shares their story will be entered into a drawing to win a gift card. Several winners will be announced every day during finals week. Good luck Broncos and great job finishing the semester strong!
