Food

Dining Halls

  • Food in the dining halls is locally sourced when possible.
  • Vegan and vegetarian options are always available.
  • Dining halls provide reusable, washable containers instead of disposable to-go boxes.

Food Waste

Boise State is proud to keep much of it’s food waste out of the landfill.  When food waste is landfilled, it is converted to methane, a potent greenhouse gas.  By keeping food waste out of the landfill, we avoid creating methane emissions.

Compost

Food scraps from the campus food pantry that are not in edible condition are composted in our on-site compost pile.

Resources for Food Insecure Students

Food insecurity is defined as the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. A survey conducted in 2016 found that over 40% of Boise State students face food insecurity.

Community Garden Club

The community garden located on Boise State’s campus is run by students within the Community Garden Club. The club works hard to maintain the garden in order to provide fruits and vegetables to students and community members. Looking forward they would like to increase their yield and have their produce be accessible to students in need through the Campus Food Pantry.
