Biography

Professor (MFA, University of Utah)

Marla is a Professor at Boise State University in the Department of Theatre Arts and directs the Dance Minor, the Dance Option BA Degree and the Summer DanceFest. Marla choreographs regularly for Boise State productions including Metamorphoses, CabaretHMS Pinafore, Pippin, Into the Woods and Damn Yankees. She is Co-Artistic Director of Idaho Dance Theatre, professional company in-residence at Boise State and has choreographed over 60 ballets for the company.  She loves to collaborate with other artists and has worked with Opera Idaho, Del Parkinson, The Verde Percussion Group, among others. In 2009 she received the award for distinguished community engagement from the College of Arts and Sciences at Boise State. In 2007 she was named the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, “Dance Educator of the Year” in the Northwest District. She has also received the Idaho Commission on the Arts Artist Fellowship.
