During his two-year Bronco career, Arnell Jones was a dominate force in the Big Sky Conference from his forward position. Jones was named the league’s Newcomer of the Year in 1987, when he helped Boise State to a record of 22-8 and a first round victory in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). As a senior in 1988, Jones was named the Big Sky Conference’s Most Valuable Player as the Broncos won the league’s regular season and post-season tournament championships. The 1988 Bronco team finished the year with a 24-6 record and a first round appearance in the NCAA Division I National Tournament. In 1988, Jones led all NCAA Division I basketball players in field goal percentage making 187 of 283 attempts for 66.1 percent. He has the second highest career field goal percentage mark in Boise State history making 359 of 586 attempts for 61.3 percent. Jones led Boise State in scoring and rebounding during his junior and senior seasons. He finished his Bronco career averaging 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
