Life on Campus

Student Life

There is so much to do on campus! BSU’s campus is so lively, fun, and vast that it can feel overwhelming at times. Though, there’s no need to stress, worry, or wonder where you should spend time. These are the places and restaurants that you must check out!

Places to Visit

When walking around the campus, there are many noteworthy destinations for Broncos to visit.  The amphitheater is located outdoors and is a great place to sit down and relax on a warm spring or summer day.  The quad is full of events and activities for Broncos to get involved with their school.  The quad has a lot of grass and room for Broncos to frolic.  Broncos can play spikeball, hacky-sack, or freeze tag on the quad.  Around Towers Hall, there are bridges connecting the city to the campus.  These bridges are a great place for Broncos to relax by the river. However, the one thing all Broncos must be weary of while walking around campus is the geese.  The geese are everywhere, and they are ready for action at a moment’s notice. By leaving the geese alone, you can keep yourself safe and at peace.

Library

The BSU Albertsons library has everything you need. It’s the perfect place to study, research for your class assignment, work with your fellow classmates and friends. You can even reserve private study rooms, talk to librarians, use various technologies for your classes, and attend library events. To learn more about the library and the services available to you, please visit the Albertsons library page.

SUB

The Student Union Building, or the SUB, is a staple in every Broncos’ freshman year.  The SUB contains multiple restaurants and stores for quick food, textbooks, BSU memorabilia, and a game center for pool and bowling.  The SUB also has several banquet rooms on the second floor for certain classes and events.  This building is the heart of BSU and will be a key part in any Bronco’s journey.  Everything starts and ends with the SUB.

ILC

The Interactive Learning Center, or the ILC, is packed to the brim with exciting and innovative facilities for any Bronco to enjoy.  This building is a true marvel of modern-day architecture, as it holds one of the largest lecture halls on campus, several different classrooms, the high-tech Zone, and an array of restaurants for Broncos to replenish their energy.  This tall building contributes to the everyday life of a Bronco and makes students feel like they are part of a bustling, high-tech campus.

Eating Near CampusBoise downtown in the distance with trees in the foreground

When the weather gets sunny, food trucks of all sorts come to campus and sell their delicious grub to Broncos.  Some highlights include CupBop Korean BBQ in a Cup, Pizza in a Cone, Corn Dogs, and Dutch Brothers Coffee.  CupBop is my personal favorite, as it has the most options and the biggest portions. Protip: The spicy fried chicken cup is the best thing to get when CupBop visits BSU.

The Shed

The Shed is a great sports bar near campus.  Don’t be worried, as anyone can enter and eat their famous wings.  On Mondays, The Shed offers 85 cent wings with two unique weekly sauces made by the chef.  The Shed also offers classic Buffalo wings as well as burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers.  Sports fans can enjoy games on the T.V.’s as well as a plate full of affordable, and delicious wings each Monday.  Making The Shed a tradition for Monday Night Football is a great choice for new Broncos.

Bid Jud’s

Big Jud’s is a true staple for the big-time burger fans of Boise State. This restaurant has the biggest burgers in all of Boise, some weighing up to a whopping four pounds. This restaurant also offers a unique challenge where one person can take on an entire two-pound burger in 30 minutes. If the challenger finishes the gnarly burger and fries in under 30 minutes, they walk away a champion with a picture on the Wall-of-Fame, a free tee shirt, and a disgustingly large meal free of charge. Whether you want to grab a meal with friends and family or become a local burger-fighting champion, Big Jud’s delivers. Only a quick walk away from campus, Big Jud’s is the perfect place for a starving college student to take on a behemoth of a challenge and walk away with a belly full of food.

Boise River Cafe

Located in the heart of the SUB, the Boise River Cafe, or BRC, is the prime spot to dine as a new Bronco.  The food is served buffet style; you can grab as many plates as you’d like each visit.  The all-you-can-eat breakfast is a real lifesaver for students at BSU.  Whether students were up all night studying or partying hard on a Thursday night, the BRC breakfast is a great way to bring a student back to life in the morning.  Aside from the sheer quantity of food, the BRC offers a plethora of options and themes each night.  Some of the best BRC-themed dinners include breakfast for dinner night, Italian night (with fancy tablecloths), Mexican night, and a Thanksgiving-themed night.  With all sorts of exciting options, there’s never a bad day to go chow down at the BRC.

South Fork

South Fork is the other primary dining option at BSU.  It is located in the Honors College, and it has more fancy options to choose from than the BRC.  If a salmon filet with quinoa and rice is more your style than eight burgers in a single sitting, then South Fork is the place for you.  While this place isn’t all-you-can-eat, like the BRC, it offers healthy and better-tasting options for Broncos on campus.  The food is prepared on the spot at South Fork, and a lot of care goes into making the food delicious with decent portions.  While the BRC is typically the go-to spot for new Broncos, South Fork is always a great option to up the level on any Bronco’s next meal.
