[Joey, Senior, English Teaching Major]: What’s up, everybody? My name is Joey, and I am a senior here at Boise State, and I’m here in Albertsons Stadium on our famous blue turf for Ask Me Anything.

[Graphic: WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF GREEK LIFE AT BOISE STATE?]

[Joey]: The best part at Greek life at Boise State for me is honestly just the relationships that come into play. I think about my whole college experience. I met some of my best friends through Greek life, hanging out together, playing sports, or going to other formals or fraternity functions and things like that. I think the relationships are the best part of Greek life, at least for me.

[Graphic: WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I’M UNDECLARED OR UNSURE ABOUT MY MAJOR?]

[Joey]: My advice for people who may be unsure of their major is just to relax. It’s totally okay! Four years is a really long time for you to really kind of define what it is you’re really interested in, try some different courses, try a few different things. I was somebody who went into college thinking I was going down one path and ended up 180 degrees from where I started. So I’m in English teaching, I’m kind of going down the education route, but I’m also getting a minor in narrative arts, which is a combined creative writing and filmmaking pathway that we offer here at Boise State.

And for me, I just think it’s really cool that I can kind of have like a primary bachelor’s degree and also work on something I’m really passionate about and creative with like every single semester. I love the fact that I’ve still being able to take some creative writing and filmmaking courses pretty much every single year of college.

I realized in retrospect, like it was all part of the journey and it’s totally okay to feel a little unsure, especially at the beginning.

[Joey]: So coming to Boise from out of state was a bit of a transition for me, but truthfully, we have such a cool community and friendly community that I felt right at home within the first couple of weeks that I even started school here at Boise State. So while it was a bit of an adjustment at first, it’s so welcoming, it’s such a cool place to hang out that I really did feel like it was home within the first couple of months.
