[Olivia, Senior, Health Sciences Major]: Hi Future Broncos! My name is Olivia, I’m a student at Boise State studying health studies and minoring in psychology.

[Olivia]: Today I’m going to be answering your questions right here on the blue turf in Albertsons Stadium.

[Graphic: HOW DO YOU ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF IN A CLASSROOM ENVIROMENT?]

[Olivia]: Personally, I advocate for myself by really communicating with my professors, my teacher’s assistants, and my learning assistants. These are people that are resources available to you to make sure that you are excelling in those academics. Office hours is a great resource for students to use. Office hours is one hour a week that a professor has their office open for students to come in, ask questions, get those questions answered, and make sure that the curriculum that is being taught in the classroom is also being taught for those students.

[Olivia]: So the Writing Center and our various learning centers around campus are fully free for students.

[Olivia]: They’re a great resource for students to use. The Writing Center is one of my favorite resources. If you have any papers, you can go ahead and take that paper into the Writing Center or you can submit it virtually. They will make edits to that paper, return it back to you, and hopefully make that paper as best it can be. If professors know that you’re using our learning centers, they actually will typically provide extra credit for their students. So really supporting students in using those resources and taking advantage of all the resources available is really important.

[Graphic: WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE STUDY SPOTS?]

[Olivia]: Yeah, some of my favorite study spots on campus include Albertson’s Library.

[Olivia]: On the fourth floor of the library, you’re going to have the best view of downtown Boise. It’s also the quietest spot on campus, and you can reserve rooms ahead of time if you want to take a test or do some homework ahead of time, that’s a great spot. Also, the Interactive Learning Center is a great spot on campus where you can use the couches and chairs in there to get some homework done.
