Meet Andrea Tuning

Senior urban and regional long range planner for the City of Boise

Andrea earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work at Boise State University in 1999 and continued her education at Boise State, earning her Master’s in Public Administration in 2002. Over her career as a transportation planner and urban and regional planner, she drafted, implemented and evaluated public policies and programs that have guided and shaped the City of Boise and surrounding cities. Throughout the years, she has focused on maintaining Boise’s safe, sustainable, equitable and special community as it grows and evolves.

She has shared her knowledge at schools across the Treasure Valley, including as an adjunct professor at Boise State, where she taught Creating Healthy Communities Through Design. Andrea has also volunteered with PAWS animal rescue, Paint the Town, Rake Up Boise and other local events and institutions to make a difference in her community.

In 2010, the Idaho Business Review recognized her as a Woman of the Year, and she received the Leadership Award from the American Planning Association’s Idaho chapter in 2023. She is passionate about her profession, her community and animal welfare and loves being an active Boise State University fan and supporter.

Every year, the Alumni Association honors excellence by bestowing a number of awards to alumni with outstanding achievements. These individuals exemplify the loyalty, passion and innovation found in all dedicated Broncos. Honorees are recognized at the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala during Homecoming.
