Art Berry ’73, ’81

Art Berry was a highly recruited quarterback and transferred to Boise State University to play football. He led the team to become the 1971 Camellia Bowl Champion Broncos. As a student he was active in student rights issues, so he co-founded and became the first executive director of the Idaho Student Lobby. He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Student Lobby in the United States Congress. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1973. In 1976 he received his juris doctorate from University of Idaho,  and then Berry returned to Boise State to earn his master’s in business administration in 1982.

Berry started his professional career as Idaho Assistant Attorney General and then moved to become a securities broker. He founded a successful commercial brokerage company, Arthur Berry & Company. Throughout his career, Berry’s business interests included working with Commercial Ventures, Inc.; the Berry Family LLC; Garrity Investment; Business Valuations Inc.; AB Kit RE LLC; Caldwell Holding Company Inc.; and Kit Homebuilders West LLC. He has also served on numerous industry boards, including banking, finance, education, manufacturing and real estate. Berry taught business law and the MBA capstone course at Boise State for three years.

Berry has been a dedicated and passionate Bronco for more than 50 years. He has volunteered thousands of hours serving on boards and advisory councils to help the university grow and succeed. In addition to his board service on the Bronco Athletic Association, the Boise State Foundation and College of Business and Economics boards, he also served as the Boise State Alumni Association Board president. Berry is well known for recruiting other alumni volunteers and friends to give their time and gifts to special projects at the university.

A longtime donor, he is a lifetime member of the Boise State Alumni Association, and a member of the President’s Club and the Lyle Smith Society. Art Berry’s wife Susan is also a Boise State graduate with a Master’s in Education. They are proud parents of three children and six grandchildren.
