Host a Watch Party
We’re always looking for more passionate alumni to host watch parties. Here’s how you can get involved.
-
- Decide which game(s) to host. Will you host a watch party for every televised game, just a few or only one?
-
- Choose a location. Find a venue, like a pub, bar or restaurant, that agrees to show the game(s).
-
- Talk with the venue. Ask if they’re willing to offer any food or drink specials for your group. Keep in mind: all events are pay-your-own-way, so hosts do not collect or handle money.
-
- Submit the Bronco Sports Watch Plan form. This form is critical and includes information about where and when the party will happen. This information will be posted on our website.
-
- Invite your Bronco friends. Spread the word, and we’ll help, too! The Alumni Association will email alumni in your area to help promote your event. We’ll also include your party on our watch party page and alumni newsletter.
-
- Follow through. Make sure you attend every game you commit to hosting.
Watch Party Planning Tips
- Find a backup host. If you can’t make it to the event, ask another Bronco to step in and host on your behalf.
- Be mindful of venue requirements. Some places may require a deposit, minimum headcount or food and drink minimum. Please note: the Boise State Alumni Association cannot cover any expenses.
- Confirm the game broadcast. Make sure your venue can show the entire game, and do your best to negotiate for sound, too.
- Check for game time changes. Keep an eye on broncosports.com for game times. Be sure to list the game time for your time zone, not Boise time.
Day-of Event Tips
- Arrive early and decorate. Make it feel like a Bronco party! If you’d like pom-poms or a Boise State flag, email teresaharder@boisestate.edu ahead of time.
- Greet guests. Welcome everyone, and help introduce new attendees to the regular crowd.
- Capture the moment. Take a few great up-close photos, especially candid shots of fans in their Bronco gear, cheering or celebrating. Send two to three of your best photos to teresaharder@boisestate.edu or tag Boise State Alumni and Friends on social media.
- Spot future leaders. If any fans express interest in getting more involved, please let us know. We’re building geographic alumni chapters in several states.
- Thank the venue. Show your appreciation to the venue staff and let us know if they provided exceptional service so we can call and thank them, too.
- Share your ideas. We are open to your feedback and any ideas to improve our events. Send your compliments and suggestions for improvement to teresaharder@boisestate.edu. We’re here to support you.
- Have fun and keep it going! Don’t worry if you only have a handful of Broncos at your first event. Invite attendees to bring friends next time.
