Meister Secures Cutting-Edge Inverted Confocal Raman Microscope with $460,000 Murdock Grant

Dr. Konrad Meister (BMOL Faculty) was recently awarded a $460,000 Murdock Grant for the purchase of an Inverted Confocal Raman Microscope for Innovative Bio-Environmental-Chemistry research. This Raman microscope will have capabilities for both short and long wavelength excitation, as well as sophisticated environmental control. The new imaging system will offer a non-invasive and non-destructive way to perform 3D imaging of complex water-based samples, and will allow for the visualization and investigation of (bio)materials at the nanoscale level, including their physical and chemical properties under various gas and liquid conditions. The high-resolution imaging capabilities of the instrument will further provide real-time structural and chemical information of (bio)materials and will enable the study of the interface between different materials or organisms.
