M.S. Candidate Roger Vuong Defends Thesis

Roger Vuong will defend his thesis on Thursday, December 8th, at 1:30pm in MPCB 118.  Vuong, who works in Dr. Don Warner’s lab, will present “SYNTHESIS OF 2,4-DISUBSTITUED PYRIMIDINES AND QUINAZOLINES TO INHIBIT ONCOSTATIN M.”  His research examines cytokines–molecules released during inflammation from injury or illness.  Sometimes, the body produces too many cytokines which can contribute to the prevalence and severity of diseases such as cystic fibrosis, cancers, and arthritis.  Vuong studies small molecule inhibitors that could be candidates to regulate or inhibit cytokine production.  Please join us at his defense!
