How to Start Undergraduate Research

Are you interested in getting started in undergraduate research?

You’ve come to the right place! Please follow the steps below to start the process of becoming involved in undergraduate research in one of our diverse chemistry and biochemistry laboratories:

  1. Read about faculty research interests and emphases by visiting their profile.  View the faculty roster and then select “view full profile” to read about their specific interests.  Here, they will also discuss what they are looking for in undergraduate research assistants, and their recent publications.
  2. Visit the third floor of the Science Building and view the various posters around the labs.  Research posters are a great way to become familiar with what research is being conducted throughout the department.
  3. Contact Student Support Manager Kathleen Mukengezi at to schedule an appointment to discuss your next steps.
