Degree Emphasis vs. Certificate

Degree Emphasis

Resort and Hospitality Management is an emphasis area within the online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management program. Students who want to advance their career in hospitality management can elect RHM as a specific emphasis area to gain necessary skills and practical internship experience within the industry.

Is the degree emphasis option for me?

This is for you, if you are seeking a bachelor’s degree and interested in the Online Management BBA program or are currently enrolled the Management BBA program and would like to add an emphasis area.

Certificate

7 course program provides you with knowledge in management and financial accounting, as well as specific skills required in resort and hospitality environments. Boise State’s Online Resort and Hospitality Management Certificate delivers practical knowledge of the industry to program graduates in a flexible and accessible format, designed to give students the tools to build a long-term career within the industry.

Is the certificate option for me?

This is for you, if you are currently working in the industry and want an accredited certificate in Resort and Hospitality Management, or you are looking to just grow your expertise in Hospitality to advance your career opportunities (but not looking for the full BBA degree).

Internships

Student Experience

Hands-on industry experience through an internship (RHM 493) for 1-3 credits is a requirement for both the emphasis and certificate.

Students will determine and complete a special project during their internship (approved by the organization and the internship coordinator).

Students are required to meet with their internship coordinator one semester prior to enrolling in the internship class. This is a critical part of understanding the internship requirements and identifying unique interests to ensure ideal internship placement.
