Activities for graduating seniors

In addition to Winter Commencement, there are some smaller, more intimate celebrations occurring in the weeks leading up to the big day. All students are welcome. Events are free and open to the public.

 

Veterans Cords

Active-duty military members or veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces are invited to wear the Americana cord at commencement.

You can pick up your cord anytime between now and December 17 at the Veteran Services Center, Lincoln Garage.

Cupcakes and Cords Craft and Game Night

Friday, December 3 : 5-7 p.m.
Bishop Barnwell Room, Student Union Building

All are welcome to enjoy rainbow cupcakes, light hors d’oeuvres, games, and crafting at this drop-in style reception honoring the achievements of LGBTQIA+ and allied winter 2021 graduates. Rainbow cords and pins available for graduates.

Drop-in event. No RSVP needed.

Latinx Stole Celebration

Tuesday, December 14 : 6 p.m.
Jordan Ballroom A, Student Union Building

This celebration honors the accomplishments of students from the Latinx community. Students are welcome to invite an honored guest to join them as their stole is presented. Free parking and refreshments will be provided. These stoles are meant to be worn to the Boise State commencement ceremony on December 18, 2021.

First Forward: A Celebration for First-Generation Graduates

Wednesday, December 15 : 4:30-6 p.m.
Simplot Ballroom, Student Union Building

This celebration honors the accomplishments of students who are the first members of their families to graduate from college. Students can recognize those who supported them during their collegiate journey by asking them to present their first generation cord onstage.

International Graduation Celebration

Wednesday, December 15 : 3-5 p.m.
Hatch Ballroom, Student Union Building

Help us honor and celebrate the achievements of our departing exchange students, study abroad alumni, and international students graduating from Boise State.

No RSVP needed.

Black Excellence Stole Ceremony

Wednesday, December 15 : 6 p.m.
Farnsworth Room, Student Union Building

Graduates who identify as Black are invited to be honored with their peers at this celebration. Students are welcome to invite an honored guest to present their stole. Free parking and refreshments will be provided. Stoles are meant to be worn to the Boise State commencement ceremony on December 18, 2021.

Indigenous/Native Stole Celebration

Thursday, December 16 : 6 p.m.
Bishop Barnwell Room, Student Union Building

This celebration honors the accomplishments of Native and Indigenous graduates from Boise State. Students are welcome to invite an honored guest to join them as their stole is presented. These stoles are meant to be worn to the Boise State commencement ceremony on December 18, 2021. Students are welcome to wear their tribal regalia to the ceremony. Free parking and refreshments will be provided.
