About Sam
I’m very excited to serve on the board for my second year now. I appreciate the opportunity to return and speak on the students’ behalf to the faculty. I believe I can add to this group with my industry experience, specifically having worked on flying cars, solar cars, titanium jet engine parts, airport GSE, and currently instruments bound for the ISS and beyond. I am always open to communicating about student life, being a Christian in college, getting internships, and generally navigating tough times like this. Feel free to reach out!

About Julianna
I am thrilled to be joining the Student Advisory Board for the Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering department this year. I love being involved and helping those around me and being on the SAB allows me to do both. I believe being on the SAB is a fantastic opportunity for me to be a voice for all MBE students to better our engineering learning experiences. In my previous courses I have worked with a wide variety of students from all levels and know we all have different ways of learning and needs that need to be addressed. I want to help create a positive environment for all MBE students and help connect students with the incredible services Boise State has to offer. During my first year with the College of Engineering, I had amazing mentors who helped me connect with many of the resources on the Boise State campus. I would like to share my experiences with the MBE students, especially the incoming students, so they can utilize the resources I have found to be helpful.

About Maddie
I am an incoming sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I worked in the Boise State Engineering Innovation Studio during my freshman year and will work there again this fall while also starting my new job as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Robot Control Lab. I am a member of the Society of Women Engineers which I recommend any engineering student join to meet other engineering students and learn valuable skills. I also enjoy activities outside of academics such as golfing, which I have played since I was four, and skiing, which I learned last winter. I am excited for the opportunity to serve on the Student Advisory Board and be a voice for the students. I hope to be able to offer my perspective for improvement of programs and to help better student experiences on campus!

Being new to the engineering world can be intimidating, but I am here as an advocate and friend for the newbies (such as myself). Now, more than ever, communication is so important. Implementing lines of communication between students and faculty members online can, and will, be made possible. I’m new at this, as are many others, and I’m excited to share not only my, but your, virtual experiences to improve the flow and transition into the world of engineering. You’ve got the voice and I’ve got the microphone. We can do this!

About Kathryn
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the student advisory board and be a voice for my fellow classmates in the MBE program. As a transfer student and former member of ASME at my previous school, I can honestly say I know how valuable an open line of communication is, especially between a program’s faculty and students. Because of this, I am excited to share my unique perspective with the Student Advisory Board. During these uncertain times I hope to be a consistent and reliable sounding board for the faculty and bring forth new concerns we as students may have.

About Ainsley
Over the past three years, I have been an active participant in various STEM opportunities and conferences within the Treasure Valley. These include e-Girls, SheTech, and the Idaho Science and Aerospace Scholars Summer Academy. Many of these opportunities were offered through Boise State University and were integral in helping me to decide to pursue a career in engineering. As part of the Student Advisory Board, I plan on helping to build on and expand these opportunities to encourage more women to pursue engineering, and make it easier for them to do so.

I am looking forward to being a part of and working with the student advisory board. Students offer a unique perspective that is invaluable in aiding the development and progression of our ME department. I hope to promote extracurricular involvement as it has been crucial to my networking and great experience at BSU. I feel that it is important to be involved in the department so to help ensure the success of future engineers and graduates from Boise State University.

About Luke
It’s an honor to be part of the Student Advisory Board for this school year! Coming all the way from Atlanta, Georgia, Boise State has certainly felt like a fresh, new start for me as I begin college and build a home away from home. Yet, I still bring all my experience from my past years’ involvement through service and leadership positions in multiple organizations. I hope to apply the skills I’ve learned to the Student Advisory Board and as I work toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a newcomer, not only into college but the state of Idaho entirely, I believe I may add a unique viewpoint to the board by voicing the concerns and questions that many new freshmen may have, thereby supporting them to make the transition to college smoother. After all, one of Boise State’s top priorities is us, the students. I hope to use my involvement in the SAB to show students their importance at Boise State and that the college truly stands behind such a stated priority.

I want to serve on the Student Advisory Board because it is my belief that we live in an ever changing environment at all times and the experience I have gathered during my time here at Boise State as well as my previous work experience has allowed me to develop a unique perspective. It is not the strongest that survives, nor the smartest, but those that are able to adapt. It would be a pleasure of mine to assist students and faculty alike by helping our department adapt to the new challenges we are facing every day.
