About Us

six people on skis and snowboard in snow

We focus on the study of thermal transport from the fundamental to the applied scale. This ranges from understanding of the optical properties of nanostructures, the thermal conductivity of particle beds, convection in drops all the way up to applications to a variety of energy conversion systems. Often the focus is on solar energy systems, both thermal conversion and photovoltaic. We enjoy coming up with innovative solutions to complex problems with an eye towards potential commercialization. The lab is a place for everyone to learn and be involved including undergraduate, MS, and PhD students all the way through postdocs and visiting faculty.
