Below are example databases to utilize in finding funding for your project.
Grants.gov
The federal government posts grant opportunities to their grants.gov database. There are over 2,000 posted federal grants and cooperative agreements in the database. You can create an account to set up saved searches and track opportunities.
Foundation Directory
This database, managed by Candid, has over 300,000 profiles for funders (primarily foundations) and provides information on open grant opportunities as well as strategic information on funders to support your funding requests. The City of Boise libraries provides free access to the Directory. Or reach out to crca@boisestate.edu for support with the Directory.
SPIN Database
Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) is an extensive database of funding opportunities that contains over 40,000 opportunities, both federal and non-federal. The platform allows you to save and retrieve searches, set up email alerts, and bookmark specific opportunities. Boise State University has subscribed to the SPIN database and provides access to all InfoEd users. While an extensive database, it is not comprehensive but will give you a sense of the available funding opportunities.
Accessing SPIN
Step 1: Log in to InfoEd: Sign into InfoEd using your Bronco login credentials. Note: if you are not on campus, you must sign in to the VPN or it won’t log you in.
Step 2: Access SPIN database: Click on the SPIN tab on the left side of InfoEd’s home screen.
