Valley County Age-Friendly Assessment – 2022

An age-friendly community is a community that works to support people of all ages, especially older adults, to live healthy, safe, active, connected, and meaningful lives.

A recent assessment conducted in Valley County, Idaho explored the age-friendliness of the communities within it and looked into 8 factors that the World Health Organization and the AARP have found to support healthy aging within one’s community. Community surveys were made available from November 2021 through February 2022, community focus groups were conducted with older adults, and interviews with those who support and provide services to older adults took place to help gain an understanding of what assets and barriers exist within the area to help residents age gracefully.
