The admissions process for the Interdisciplinary Studies program at Boise State is a three-step process.
Step 1: Meet with an IDS Program Advisor
Your personalized Interdisciplinary Studies journey begins with a key step: connecting with an IDS program advisor. This meeting is an opportunity to:
- Articulate your educational and career aspirations: Share what you aim to achieve through your undergraduate education.
- Discuss your motivation for pursuing IDS: Explain why a customized, interdisciplinary approach is the optimal path for your unique objectives.
- Explore areas of study and specific courses: Identify the disciplines and individual courses that will form the core of your personalized degree plan.
To make the most of this important meeting, please come prepared to discuss the points above.
Step 2: Submit Your Personal Impact Statement
Once you’ve decided IDS is the right path for you, the next step is to apply to the program by submitting a personal impact statement. This exercise is your opportunity to show us how you plan to tailor your degree to your personal and professional goals.
Step 3: Declare Your IDS Major
Following the submission of your personal impact statement, your final step is to officially declare Interdisciplinary Studies as your major. You will also add your selected minors and certificates in your Student Center under the “change my major” option.
