The Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Technology is an ideal program of study for professionals in education and/or training who already have a master’s degree, but who wish to improve technology leadership or faculty development roles or who want to use technology more effectively for improved student engagement and learning.

The Ed.S. in Educational Technology program at Boise State University can be completed entirely online; there are no on-campus or in-person requirements. All courses and exams/defenses can be completed at a distance, though in some cases synchronous (same time) attendance is required.

What can I do with this degree?

Our Education Specialist (Ed.S.) program is a post-masters degree for those seeking to develop an extra level of expertise in educational technology. Many of our Ed.S. students and graduates are K-Higher Ed professionals, but we also have students in other sectors doing jobs related to instructional design and delivery or technology integration.

Our students take an in-depth look at topics such as (but not limited to) professional development, online learning, learning analytics, data mining, blended learning, games and simulations, and mobile technologies.

Estimated Costs

The cost per credit is $599 for courses numbered in at the 600 level, and $478 per credit for courses numbered at the 500-level. Education Specialist students take a total of 33 credits with a mix of 500-level and 600-level courses.
