    Ryan Brevik

    Director, TRIO STEM Scholars

    Ryan Brevik holds a Doctorate of Education and a Master of Business Administration from Boise State University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Western Washington University. He began teaching chemistry at Boise State in the fall of 2013 and has instructed a wide range of laboratory courses, including introductory, general, organic, and analytical chemistry.

    Ryan joined TRIO Rising Scholars in 2017 as the STEM and Business Educational Specialist, where he served as an advisor, educator, and advocate for first-generation and limited-income students pursuing STEM and business pathways. Ryan now serves as the Director of TRIO STEM Scholars, leading program initiatives, supporting student success, and collaborating across campus to expand opportunities for first-generation and limited-income STEM students.

    Ryan is passionate about inspiring and empowering students to achieve their goals, grow as thoughtful and compassionate humans, and explore the world with curiosity and a sense of adventure. Outside of work, he enjoys biking, skiing, walking his dog, and playing outside with his family.

    Amanda Ferguson

    Educational Specialist

    Amanda Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Geoscience Education from Boise State University and maintains an Idaho teaching endorsement in Earth and Space Sciences. Amanda has high school and middle school classroom experience working with diverse learners in disadvantaged communities. She enjoys challenging students to reach outside of their comfort zones. Amanda joined TRIO STEM Scholars as an Educational Specialist in the summer of 2022.

    Amanda enjoys helping people find and build supportive communities to be a part of. She has a desire to support students of all ages in advocating for themselves and others as well as in finding the wonder and curiosity to be a lifelong learner. In her free time, she enjoys calligraphy, video games, TTRPGs, reading, and chasing her daughter around the backyard.
