The Pesky Award for Inspirational Teaching recognizes kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers in Idaho and beyond who make a major difference in the lives of their students through their passion and caring. Nominations for the 2020 Pesky Awards are now available until October 23. Anyone graduating in December 2020 or May 2021 may nominate an inspirational teacher; award recipients will be recognized during Boise State University’s Winter 2020 commencement on December 19.
This marks the tenth year of the awards which recognizes four distinguished K-12 teachers who have made a substantive difference in the lives of their former students. Given the unprecedented challenges teachers have faced during our public health context, this year’s award will also honor teachers whose flexibility and responsiveness have inspired our teacher candidates to continue their path into education.
Each of the four teachers selected for the awards receives $2,000, and his/her school receives $500. It is the only award known of its kind in the country.
