2020 Mountain West Esports Series Championship Matches Set

2020 MOUNTAIN WEST ESPORTS SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES SET 

LAS VEGAS – Following some thrilling semifinal matches, the championship matchups are set for the 2020 Mountain West Esports Series Championship Powered by MTN DEW AMP GAME FUEL in “League of Legends” and “Overwatch®”.

In “League of Legends,” Boise State and Colorado State played a full five games to determine the winner. The Rams pulled out the victory 3-2 after taking the final two games. The Rams handed the Broncos their first loss of the season. In the West Division, Nevada swept UNLV 3-0 to take the crown. Nevada enters the championship undefeated this season. Colorado State and Nevada will face off on Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. PT.

For “Overwatch®”, Boise State defeated Colorado State in the Mountain Division semifinal 3-0. Boise State outscored its opponents 18-4 this season. In the West Division, UNLV took the crown with a 3-0 victory. UNLV is on a four-game win streak after losing their opening match. The Rebels and Broncos will face off in the “Overwatch®” championship on Saturday, March 7 starting at 9 a.m. PT.

The institutions of the champion teams in each title will be awarded $5,000 for the general scholarship fund courtesy of MTN DEW AMP GAME FUEL.

For the second straight year, the Mountain West hosts the Mountain West Esports Series Championship Powered by MTN DEW AMP GAME FUEL in conjunction with the Air Force Reserve Mountain West Basketball Championships. The esports series championship will take place inside the Strip View Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center. ESTARS Studios will produce the event. Admission to the esports championship matches is free with a ticket to that day’s MW Basketball Championships.
