Local Service Project: Boise River ReWild Planting Project

October 14, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Who does not love the Boise River? Join the Boise River ReWild project, a community-led conservation initiative with the Golden Eagle Audubon Society. ReWild gives volunteers the opportunity to restore stream-side meadows and forests that are being overrun with weeds. We will be planting hundreds of native seedlings at the Diane Moore Nature Center near Lucky Peak State Park. Learn about the historic use of the river, noxious weed invasions, the importance of native plants, and the value of community-engaged conservation while we create better habitat for wildlife and people. Then, we will get down to business planting wildflowers and shrubs and maybe pulling a weed or two, all while working with friends and making new ones. This is guaranteed fun and difference-making for our environment!

  • Dress for the weather with sturdy shoes.
  • Please bring your own water bottle.
  • Snacks will be provided!
  • We will provide the equipment including work gloves, tools, and beautiful plants grown from seed by your fellow community members.
  • Transportation is not planned at the moment. However, if there is a need for transportation, please let us know and we can arrange it.

Please arrive promptly at 10 a.m., and we’ll continue our work until 2 p.m. We’ll meet at the Diane Moore Nature Center, which is on the Boise River near the Hwy 21 bridge and the Black Cliffs, just before Lucky Peak.
