About Ginna Husting Director of Gender Studies

Ginna Husting is interested in way too many things. She earned her PhD in sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and finds herself shuttling across disciplines as she weaves her research, which spans sociology (esp. symbolic interaction), cultural studies, and political/feminist/settler colonial theories. Some of her recent work considers travelers and temporary identity change, Hannah Arendt in relation to conspiracy theory discourse and digital technology, and the work of Mini Aodla Freeman in relation to settle colonial structures of emotion. She’s in the beginning stages of research on Crip Studies and psychiatric disorders.
