Gender in Research & Creative Activity Symposium

The Gender Studies Program invites you to submit your proposal to the second annual Gender in Research & Creative Activity Symposium, co-sponsored with the Sociology Department and Albertsons Library.

This symposium highlights the research and creative activity of faculty and students. The event includes panel presentations, as well as visual and performing arts presentations, that highlight scholarly/creative work (including performance and visual art) with an analytic focus on gender (Emphases on intersectionality most welcome).

Each Panelist will provide a 10-15 minute presentation of their work, after which there will be time for discussion. There will also be time set aside for poster/visual art presentations, and for a social networking reception.

The goal of the symposium is to showcase scholars/artists/researchers, and to help develop a culture around gender awareness and intersectionality at Boise State University, including creative work and scholarship outside the gender binary.

Benefits of Participation

This is a great opportunity to gain a line on your CV, or to get experience presenting your research/creative activity in a symposium setting. You will be able to receive feedback from faculty/peers, and it will be an excellent chance for networking.

Due Date for Proposals: Thursday March 12

For those interested in participating as panelists for the symposium, please submit a 1-3 page, double-spaced abstract of your creative activity or research to genderstudies@boisestate.edu by Thursday March 12 by midnight. Abstract should include: a thesis or project focus statement and a detailed description of data/evidence/format/genre of presentation project. For those interested in presenting visual and performance art, please provide a paragraph describing your proposed artistic work, and how it relates to the concept of intersectionality.
