Boise State University is now a designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense through 2027. This designation is awarded by the National Security Agency (NSA), based upon the university’s proven efforts to reduce threats to national infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense as well as provide the nation with a pipeline of qualified cybersecurity professionals.
Boise State offers more cybersecurity-related courses and programs than any other higher education institution in Idaho, and is home to the Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity and the Cyberdome. The Cyberdome is a collaborative hub for competency-based training, with the mission of reducing risk and producing a cybersecurity workforce, in sync with Idaho’s business, technology and government sectors.

It provides yet another feather in the cap for Boise State’s cybersecurity and cyberoperations programs, and platforms. This designation enables collaborations with other institutions around the country, provides student access to new scholarship programs, and truly places Boise State in the upper echelon of national cyber programs.”
With this new designation, Boise State is eligible to compete for grants and scholarships such as the Department of Defense Cybersecurity Scholarship Program and the National Science Foundation’s Scholarship for Service program.
