Leadership giving looks different for every donor, but it often starts at the same place — with a decision to give in a more meaningful, consistent way. From someone who gives $5 a month to support the Campus Food Pantry to those who make larger, ongoing investments in scholarships, programs and facilities, leadership donors share a common goal: to make a lasting difference at Boise State University.
Leadership donors help shape the university’s future and fuel its growth as a metropolitan research university of distinction. We recognize this impact through our donor recognition societies, which celebrate the individuals whose commitment continues to move Boise State forward.
Donor Recognition Societies
Loyal Broncos
Loyal Broncos have supported Boise State for at least two years in a row. Their consistency and willingness to step up when asked to help is reflected as they give year-after-year to causes including the Student Emergency Fund, Campus Food Pantry, scholarships, departmental projects, student clubs and more.
Parent and Family Philanthropy Circle
Parents and family members who have made an annual commitment of $1,000 or more are welcomed into the Parent and Family Philanthropy Circle. Their gifts typically go to the Parent and Family Fund, Student Emergency Fund, Internship Support Fund and the President’s True Blue Endowed Scholarship.
Barnwell Society
Named for Bishop Middleton S. Barnwell, Boise State’s first president, the Barnwell Society honors individuals who choose to support the university through deferred charitable gifts. These planned gifts — including bequests, charitable gift annuities and beneficiary designations — allow donors to make a lasting impact both during their lifetime and in the future.
Lyle Smith Society
The Lyle Smith Society recognizes leadership donors who make a significant investment in Bronco Athletics, with membership beginning at a minimum pledge of $50,000 over five years or an annual gift of $50,000 or more. As the premier giving society of the Bronco Athletic Association, members receive priority access to exclusive opportunities and engage directly with student-athletes, coaches and staff — all while making a lasting impact on future generations of Broncos.
Chaffee Guild
The Chaffee Guild recognizes donors for their sustained financial leadership with cumulative contributions totaling $100,000 or more. The Chaffee Guild is named in honor of President Eugene B. Chaffee and his wife, Mrs. Lois Chaffee, the university’s first philanthropists. Dr. Chaffee was the guiding force behind the expansion of Boise Junior College and its evolution into Boise State University.
