The Boise State University Foundation recently set a new fundraising record, bringing in $102 million in philanthropy in the 2024-2025 fiscal year as part of Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University.
The Unbridled campaign publicly launched in October 2023. Scheduled to conclude in 2028, it has already raised more than $453 million of its $500 million goal. The campaign focuses on three key pillars: student access and success, faculty innovation and What’s Next for Athletics.
“The collective impact of our alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends in contributing $102 million this last fiscal year is more than just record breaking – it’s record smashing,” said Bruce Mohr, Executive Chair of the Boise State University Foundation Board of Trustees. “The Boise State story resonates with so many individuals, families and communities. This generosity will be felt for generations to come.”
Other recent highlights include:
- Establishing 11 endowed True Blue Scholarships, which provide need-based financial assistance to Idaho residents, in calendar year 2024
- Establishing 7 new endowed faculty roles, which provide funding for faculty to supplement salaries, fund research projects, equip laboratories, pay for travel and other expenses and hire graduate students, in calendar year 2024
- Awarding 10% more students scholarships in the 24-25 academic year than the previous academic year
In a time of uncertainty, philanthropy is becoming more critical than ever for maintaining Boise State’s mission. Nearly 7,500 Boise State students submitted applications for scholarships for the 24-25 academic year.
“Accomplishing what we did this past fiscal year demonstrates the absolute best of what it truly means to be Unbridled.”
More detailed information on the tremendous impact philanthropy provides, including personal stories of students who directly benefited, can be found in the 2024-2025 Boise State University Impact Report.
“I am beyond proud of what we have been able to accomplish together with our Boise State community,” said Argia Berstain, CEO of the Foundation. “Everything we do at the Foundation is to strengthen this university, and the shared spirit of philanthropy toward this effort is both powerful and humbling. Accomplishing what we did this past fiscal year demonstrates the absolute best of what it truly means to be Unbridled.”
As of June 30, 2025, the campaign has raised:
- Over $186.4 million for athletics support
- Over $70.3 million for faculty support
- Over $111.5 million for student support
- Over $84.4 million for support in other areas
Of particular note are Boise State alumni, who have proven to be the most philanthropic constituency. Collectively, they have contributed more than $144.25 million since the Unbridled campaign began.
“Philanthropy is essential to the strength and success of a great university,” said Jeremiah Shinn, Interim President of Boise State. “I’m grateful to our donors for their generosity and vision. The Foundation’s efforts make it possible for us to better serve our students and the state of Idaho.”
