Hometown:

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Major:

Spanish & Public Health

Bio:

I served as a Health Sector Volunteer, specifically working as a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) volunteer. I worked with several different counterparts in my community including, the local water committee and personnel at the local health post. Joining the Peace Corps seemed like a great opportunity to blend my two backgrounds in Spanish and Public Health. It was also a way for me to experience a new culture and part of the world while learning and doing meaningful work. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Perú, I learned new things, whether it was about the cultural or more technical knowledge- like different components to water systems. Most of the time it was a much slower pace of life and that’s something that was challenging for me at the start but I grew to love.
