Boise State’s Graduate Gem Scholarship waives the full-time non-resident portion of tuition, a savings of approximately $17,337 per academic year.

Requirements

Eligibility for the Graduate Gem Scholarship requires a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.30 or higher and acceptance into an eligible graduate degree program. Some programs at Boise State are ineligible for this award.

Fall Semester: February 15th

Spring Semester: October 1st

The Khang and Friends Scholarship was established by alumnus Nguyen Trong Khang to support Vietnamese-citizen students attending Boise State University. This scholarship is awarded as a one-year scholarship and values vary according to the competitiveness of the applicant pool.

Requirements

The Khang and Friends Scholarship requires a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA. Applicants must be first-year Vietnamese citizens with records of academic excellence.

Consideration for this scholarship requires an additional scholarship application.

The Khang and Friends Scholarship

Value and Overview

Made possible by a generous external gift, the A Better Life Scholarship is designed to help students from mainland China achieve their goal of earning a U.S. graduate degree.

Award amounts vary. This scholarship is renewable for four years for Doctoral degree students and two years for Master’s degree students.

Requirements

In order to be eligible, students must:

- Hold a passport from mainland China
- Be admitted to a Master’s or Doctoral program at Boise State
- Have and maintain a 3.00 minimum GPA

Preference is given to female applicants, but all students who meet the above criteria will be considered for this award.

Deadlines

Consideration for the A Better Life Scholarship is automatic and requires no additional application. In order to be considered, students should have all admissions materials submitted by:

What is a graduate assistantship? How is it different from a scholarship?

A Graduate Assistantship (GA) is an offer of funding in exchange for some work commitment on the part of the student. Assistantships vary in size, but often cover tuition, fees, and health insurance, and pay an additional living stipend. In exchange, students are expected to undertake teaching, research, or administrative duties in their academic department.

A scholarship is also an offer of funding from the university, but comes with no work requirements.

What are the deadlines to apply for funding?

Graduate Gem Scholarships have deadlines of February 15th (Fall semester) and October 1st (Spring semester). Note that not all graduate programs accept students for both semesters.

Can I combine multiple funding sources?
