Respiratory Care Professor Returns from 25th Trip to Japan

Professor Lonny Ashworth recently returned from his 25th trip to Japan after presenting multiple workshops in various hospitals throughout Japan as a part of the International Exchange Visit Programme for Respiratory Care Professionals. Ashworth started traveling to Japan in 1995 as a part of the International Exchange Visit Programme for Respiratory Care Professionals.

During his visit in Feb. 2012, Ashworth presented the following workshops, all of which related to the mechanical ventilation of adult patients:

  • Two-day workshop presented to physicians and co-medical personnel at Shonan Kamakura Hospital, in Kamakura, Japan.
  • Three-day workshop presented to physicians at Kameda Medical Center, in Kamogawa, Japan.
  • Three, one-day workshops presented to Coronary Care Nurses at Kameda Medical Center, in Kamogawa, Japan.
  • Two-day workshop presented to physicians and nurses at St. Luke’s International Hospital, in Tokyo, Japan.
  • One-day workshop presented to physicians and co-medical personnel at Saiseikei Kumamoto Hospital, in Kumamoto, Japan.
  • Two-day workshop presented to physicians and co-medical personnel at Nippon Koukan Hospital, in Tokyo, Japan.

While in Japan, Ashworth met with several of the Boise State Respiratory Care graduates who are living and working in Japan. Plans were also discussed for the next health care professional from Japan, a critical care nurse, to enter the Boise State Respiratory Care Program in the Fall 2013.
