Video Transcript: Housing Application Process for First-Year Students

Welcome to Boise State Broncos. My name is Emma, and I’m here to give you all of the details about the housing application process. But first, here’s a list of your key dates.

Important Dates

  • March 18 – May 1, 2025 – Fall 2025 through Spring 2026 Housing application opens
  • May 12 – May 23, 2025 – Roommate matching
  • May 27, 2025 – First Year Room Selection Time Slots sent
  • June 2 – June 27, 2025 – Room Selection
  • Late August, 2025 – On-Campus Housing Move-in Days (stay tuned for email updates!)

The housing application will open Tuesday, March 18th for the fall 2025 through spring 2026 academic year. You’ll have until Thursday, May 1st, 2025 to complete your application to be guaranteed on campus housing with Boise State. All applications submitted during the window will be processed with equal priority. So don’t worry about applying early.

Room and Roommate Selection

Starting mid-March. Be prepared to sign the academic year license agreement. List your top community preferences. Pay a $75 nonrefundable application fee. Complete the Living Learning Community questions, if applicable. Contact the Educational Action Center if you need any accommodations (priority approval deadline is May 1). Provide proof of renter’s insurance by registering with Grad Card or your preferred provider, and complete a roommate profile and share your interests and lifestyle preferences.

Check your Boise State email frequently for more important updates. Please note your application isn’t complete until you’ve paid the application fee. If you’re under the age of 18 when applying your parent or guardian will need to verify the application and acknowledge the license agreement. They will receive an email with instructions on how to complete this verification.

Roommate Matching

  1. Log in to the Housing Portal between May 12-23 to begin roommate matching
  2. Search for roommates, or locate someone you already know. Both roommates must confirm they want to be matched

First year roommate matching takes place May 12th through May 23rd. Log in to the housing portal to search for your roommate by name, or look at profiles and find a good match. After making your roommate selection, you’ll be notified via email if you have both confirmed to be matched together.

On Tuesday, May 27th, a room selection window will be sent out. Room selection windows are randomly assigned by our electronic system. In June, you will have a five day window to do your room selection. If you have identified a roommate, then whoever has the earlier room selection window can secure your preferred read.

That’s an overview of the process, but if you’re ready for more. Head over to our Bronco Crib series to get full tours of our residence halls and individual rooms for current Broncos. Check out the links in the description. Good luck with your housing application process and we can’t wait to see you on campus.
