Application Dates

You’re going to love living on campus! Continue reading to learn how and when to apply.

2026 – 2027 Academic Year

First-year students and Transfers must complete the intent to enroll in order to live on-campus.

Students must be admitted to Boise State in order to access the Housing Application.

Application Process

Once the application is live and you start applying, you’ll be asked to complete the following:

• Electronically sign the academic year license agreement.
• Pay a $100 nonrefundable application fee*.
• Complete the Living Learning Community questions (if you listed an LLC in your community requests).
• Contact the Educational Access Center if you need accommodations.
• Register for renters insurance. You can go through GradGuard, a Boise State University partner if you don’t already have renters insurance. Renters insurance is required for all on-campus residents.
• Complete a Roommate Profile. Share about your interests, preferences, and lifestyle to set the stage for a supportive and respectful living environment.
• Check your Boise State email frequently for important updates.

*Your application is not complete until you’ve paid the application fee. If you are under 18 at the time of applying for housing, your parent or guardian will need to verify the application and acknowledgment of the license agreement. They’ll get an email with instructions on how to complete this verification.

Roommate Matching

To support a positive and successful living environment, complete your Roommate Profile during the Housing application process:

• Roommate Profile: This resource is available to help students share information about their preferences, habits, and lifestyles when it comes to living with a roommate. Students are asked to provide things like sleep schedules, study habits, cleanliness preferences, social habits, and personal interests.
• Roommate Matching: Students who apply before the Housing Application deadline are invited to participate in roommate matching. Students can view Roommate Profiles of other applicants and reach out to those they feel would be a good match. They may message each other through the Housing portal to discuss compatibility before finalizing the match.
• Honors or LLP: First year applicants, if you received an Honors or LLP community assignment on Friday, May 8, then you’ll be invited to exclusively match with roommates who have been assigned to the same community.

Roommate Matching

• First-Year Roommate Matching: May 11 through May 22, 2026.
• Sophomore and Above Roommate Matching: February 17 through March 13, 2026.

Students will participate in roommate matching through their housing portal. Students can select one other student to match with for Fall 2026.

Students who Opt-out of Roommate Matching or who apply after the Housing Application priority dates will not have the opportunity to participate in the roommate matching process. However, these students may still view the roommate profiles of other applicants when they are invited to enter the room selection process, allowing opportunities for strategic selection.

Note: You may request to live with someone you already know by pairing with them in roommate matching. Each individual must confirm the request is mutual before a roommate group can be finalized.

Room Selection

Students are able to self-select their room within the Housing Portal. Students who apply by the housing application deadlines will receive a room selection time through an electronic system. Students who apply after the housing priority dates will be invited to select a room as space becomes available. Students may view and book available room options any time after their assigned timeslot.

First-Year Housing Priority Application Deadline: Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (MDT)

Sophomore and Above Housing Priority Application Deadline: Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (MST)

2026-2027 Academic Year

First-Year Students

The following room selection process is available to First-Year students who applied by the May 1 deadline.

Thursday, May 28, 2026: Room Selection Time Slots Sent to BroncoMail

• Students will receive an email in their BroncoMail inbox with their personalized time slot for accessing the housing portal to select their room. Students with a roommate will be required to select rooms on behalf of their pair. For this reason, we recommend having the roommate with the earliest time slot login for room selection.

June 3-4, 2026 : Room Selection for LLP and Honors Students desiring housing in Honors Hall

• Because these students are assigned to dedicated housing areas, students who are accepted as part of the Living-Learning Program (LLP) or are in the Honors Program will select their rooms first.
• Why this is important: This group has been prioritized for their academic achievements or involvement in specialized living-learning communities. To learn more about LLPs, visit here. These students will only be entitled to select rooms within their assigned communities.

Week of June 8: Room Selection for Blue Group

• Students in this group will be assigned room selection time slots throughout the entire week of June 8. Timeslots are determined by an electronic system.
• Important Details: Blue Group does not have a higher advantage for room selection over Orange Group. Half of our housing inventory is set aside for Blue Group selection, and the other half is set aside for Orange Group selection.

Week of June 15: Room Selection for Orange Group

• Students in this group will be assigned room selection time slots throughout the entire week of June 15. Timeslots are determined by an electronic system.
• Important Details: Orange Group is not at a disadvantage from Blue Group. Half of our housing inventory is set aside for Orange Group selection.

Students that applied after the priority deadline will be given access to the portal on June 22, 2026.

Sophomore and Above Students

The following room selection process is available to Sophomore and Above students who apply by the March 13 deadline.

Tuesday, March 17, 2026: Room Selection Time Slots Sent to BroncoMail

• Students will receive an email in their BroncoMail inbox with their personalized time slot for when they may access the housing portal to select their room. Students with roommates will be entitled to select rooms for both students. For this reason, we recommend having the roommate with the earliest time slot login for room selection.
• Important Details: Once a student enters the Housing Portal, they will be required to view and book available room options. Be sure to check back, as openings and room swaps are available even after the initial opening window.

Move-In Day- Fall 2026

Move-In Day for our general population is scheduled for the week prior to classes starting. During July, students will be sent instructions to select their preferred move-in appointment time.

Preparing for Move-In

Once you’ve selected your room assignment and get to know your roommates, start planning on what you would like to bring with you to school. Use our What to Bring and What to Leave Home page on the website to help you pack.

Prior to moving onto campus, please complete the following:

• Make your first housing payment by August 22, 2026.
• Register for classes if you haven’t already.
• Check to be sure you’re enrolled in at least 12 credits (this is the minimum to be eligible for on-campus housing).

If you are bringing a vehicle to campus for the academic year, reach out to Parking and Transportation to ask about purchasing a parking pass.

Eligibility to Live On-Campus

In order to live on campus, you must be admitted to the university and enrolled in 12 or more credits by the time you physically move into campus housing. The first priority goes to full-time students. First-year students must complete the intent to enroll in order to access the application.

Classification concerns may be considered on a limited, individual basis. If you don’t meet the requirements of the classification details linked in this section but feel you have extenuating circumstances, contact Housing and Residence Life for consideration.

First-Year Residence Halls

First Year Residence Halls for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 include Chaffee, Driscoll, Honors College, Sawtooth Hall, Keiser, Morrison, Taylor, University Square, University Suites, The Osprey, Towers, and Syringa.

Sophomore and Above

Sophomore and Above residence halls include Lincoln Townhomes, The Osprey, Honors College, and University Suites.

Graduate students and students with families interested in on-campus housing should instead consider applying for an On-Campus Apartment or learn more about resources through our Off-Campus Marketplace.
