2023 – 2024 Academic Year
The Sophomore and Above Housing waitlist application opened on March 7. You can apply for the Sophomore and Above Housing waitlist here.
Pre-applications for the 2023-2024 academic year will open on March 15th for First-Year students on Slate. Apply early for the best chance of getting one of your top community preferences.
First-year students must complete intent to enroll in order to access the pre-application.
Please note that housing is not guaranteed. Assignments are based on the timestamp of the pre-application.
Fall 2023 Housing Application Opening dates
First Year Students: the housing pre-application opens on March 15, 2023 at the following times:
- Idaho Residents – 9:00 AM MDT
- Out-of-State Residents – 12:00 PM MDT (11:00 AM PDT)
* Students must be admitted to Boise State in order to access the Housing Application.
Summer 2023
The Summer Housing application opening date is March 6, 2023.
Spring 2024
The Spring Housing 2023 Application opened in October for First-year students and Sophomore and Above students. This application is currently open and will close at the beginning of the Spring 2024 semester.

First Year Application Process
The application for First Year Housing will open in Mid-March for the Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 academic year. Complete your housing application by April 5, 2024 to be apart of the Housing Lottery. Check your Boise State email for next steps.
Once you receive the link via email to the housing portal, you’ll be asked to:
- Electronically sign the academic year license agreement
- Select your top 5 communities
- Pay $50 nonrefundable application fee*
- Pay $100 housing down payment*
- Complete the Living Learning Community questions (if you listed an LLC in your community requests)
- Contact the Educational Access Center if you need accommodations
- Register for renters insurance through GradGuard, a Boise State University partner
- Check your Boise State email frequently for important updates
*Your application is not complete until you’ve paid the application fee and housing down payment. If you are under 18 at the time of applying for housing, your parent or guardian will need to verify the application and acknowledgment of the license agreement. They’ll get an email with instructions on how to complete this verification. Please note that you must turn 18 prior to the conclusion of the academic year to be eligible for on-campus housing.
