    Eryn Pierce

Faculty-in-Residence, Assistant Professor in Graphic Design

Eryn Pierce is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Boise State University and a practicing wilderness instructor. Her creative work blends design, technology, and nature, exploring how tools like augmented reality (AR) can help people reconnect with the natural world. Eryn holds a BFA in Graphic Design and a BS in Biology from Bowling Green State University, as well as an MFA in Graphic Design from NC State. She brings a cross-disciplinary, systems-thinking lens to both her teaching and creative practice.

In the classroom, she fosters environments that emphasize experimentation, collaboration, and a strong sense of community. Her work has been presented at national and international design conferences and has been featured in GOOD Magazine.

Drawing on her experience as a wilderness instructor, Eryn integrates outdoor and experiential learning into her pedagogy—centering joy, presence, and creative resilience. Whether guiding students through design challenges or leading backcountry expeditions, she is passionate about building inclusive, inspiring spaces where students can thrive.

You’ll often find Eryn with her favorite companion, Em Dash—a stubborn, food-motivated standard dachshund who keeps her grounded and well-walked.
