What does it mean to quarantine?

FAQs for Quarantine or Isolation in On-Campus Housing

How do I obtain food during my self-isolation / quarantine period?

Please work with Public Health to comprise a plan on obtaining food during your isolation.

If you do not have a meal plan, you can purchase one for your stay. The Byte 10 plan is $85 (details can be viewed here). If you do not have or wish to purchase a meal plan, you may utilize grocery delivery services. Grocery services are offered locally by Walmart, Fred Meyer, Albertsons, and Whole Foods. You may also have a friend or family member leave groceries outside of your door, however, please do not open the door to interact, rather, request they send you a message to notify you that they’ve been delivered.

Can I use common spaces in my unit?

Depending on your housing space, you may share common spaces with other residents such as bathrooms or kitchens. Please limit the time you spend in these spaces, and use abundant caution. This includes wearing a mask and using hand sanitizer or washing hands before pushing on doors, using different high touch objects, maintaining physical distancing, and sanitizing these spaces before and after each use.

Can I leave my assigned room/unit?

You may leave your room/unit to take care of essential needs, such as going to the doctor, getting water from a public filling station, using a common bathroom, etc. We encourage you to spend 10-15 minutes outside in fresh air a few times a day, masked with gloves, and physically distanced from others. You must take abundant caution any time you leave your assigned room/unit in order to limit others’ exposure. You must wear a mask and latex gloves, maintain physical distancing, and disinfect surfaces you touch before and after use. Please limit the time spent outside your assigned room/unit.

Can I have in-person contact with other people?

During your quarantine period, you should not have in-person contact with others.

How do I receive packages that come for me?

If you receive a notice that a package has arrived at your area front desk, we are requesting that you do not come to the desk to retrieve any mail until your quarantine period is over. If there is a package that has a necessity that you need currently, please contact your Resident Director. They will work with you to find a way to safely deliver this package to you if essential items are inside.
