Shared Leadership

Program Purpose

The Shared Leadership program offers Boise State employees the chance to build connections across campus through collaboration, networking, and partnerships. The program facilitates the exchange of diverse leadership perspectives and innovative ideas.

Program Goal

Shared Leadership equips participants with the practical leadership skills and in-depth understanding of the University’s systems they need to make a significant impact on both the campus community and their own departments. This combined approach fosters stronger connections and contributes to a thriving campus environment.

Program Objectives

Shared Leadership strives to:

  • Cultivate a collaborative and enjoyable atmosphere conducive to establishing campus partnerships, networking opportunities, and sharing leadership experiences.
  • Integrate practical leadership skills with relevant campus/community activities and guest presenters in each session.
  • Empowers participants to “start their leadership engines” and assume leadership roles and further develop individual leadership styles.
  • Provide participants with opportunities to reflect and grow as professionals and acquire career insights from mentors within or outside the Boise State community.
  • Offer volunteering opportunities for participants to contribute to the Boise community.
  • Give back to the program by providing time, energy, and resources as a second-year leader of the program.

Time Commitment

Shared Leadership fosters a two-year learning journey with minimal missed sessions. The first year involves monthly sessions (September – May, excluding December) focused on leadership development. Second year participants leverage gained knowledge and skills to design and deliver the program for the first-year cohort. Participation in Shared Leadership is considered professional development, aligned with participants’ regular work schedule. We urge all participants to collaborate and communicate with their supervisors regarding the time commitment to the program.

Sessions

Shared Leadership meets once per month during the months of September, October, November, January, February, March and April from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Room locations will vary.

Shared Leadership 2025-2027 Application

Due to an overwhelming response and a high volume of applications, we are closing the application period for the 2025–2027 Shared Leadership cohort earlier than anticipated. To ensure a thoughtful review process and maintain a balanced cohort size, the new deadline to submit applications is Monday, June 16, 2025.
