Purpose

This Digital Marketing Manager will create, coordinate, implement and assess enterprise-level, brand-aligned strategic digital marketing efforts for the university including email campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, as well as social media and display advertising campaigns. This role will work in close collaboration with team members from the Office of Communications and Marketing including creative services, strategic communications, marketing, events and media, as well as the Office of Information Technology, vendors, and unit leaders from across campus to build and align best-in-class, enterprise-level integrated marketing campaigns utilizing various tactics. The Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for planning and deploying campaigns, leading campaign and project meetings, and building and maintaining creative briefs that list all strategies, deliverables and timelines. With a focus on supporting data-driven marketing, this position will measure and report the performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess results against goals. This person will identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on insights and analytics. This role will brainstorm new and innovative creative growth strategies through digital marketing, and collaborate with the Director of Marketing and creative services to build web pages, and create landing pages with an optimized user experience. The position will support and lead digital marketing strategies that bring the Boise State brand to life.  

 

Level Scope

Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and campus wide goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls with a focus on policy and strategy implementation. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets and requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one area. May report to a Chair, Unit Director, or equivalent administrative management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in marketing or a related field and 5 years experience in a marketing role. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience creating and executing digital marketing campaigns that include email, targeted digital, social media advertising and more.
  • Experience building and deploying email campaigns with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience working within an organized brand structure and working with teams of creative professionals.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience managing digital projects.
  • An ability to meet long-term project deadlines while adapting to immediate demands.
  • Experience in marketing with demonstrable results.
  • Experience creating and deploying digital ad campaigns.
  • Experience with website and marketing analytics tools within the Google Suite  (i.e. Google Analytics).
  • Experience in optimizing website landing pages both onsite and offsite. 
  • Experience in setting up and assessing SEO, and PPC marketing.
  • Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying strategies and actions to achieve results.
  • Experiencing managing strategic digital campaigns from ideation through deployment.
  • Experience assessing performance of digital campaigns utilizing analytics.
  • Experience working with stakeholders from across the organization to accomplish a common goal.
  • High level of collaboration, communication and teamwork.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time the Digital Marketing Senior Manager  must:

  • Create and deploy strategic digital marketing campaigns through Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  •     Measure and report the performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess results against goals.
  •     Oversee and coordinate the project and production flow for digital advertising and other digital content in support of enterprise marketing campaigns.
  • Determine sustainable platforms to deliver targeted, affordable and on-brand marketing within the university’s overall marketing strategy.
  •     Create and contribute to creative briefs, marketing plans and other guiding documents that set the goals and objectives for each campaign.
  •     Outline and track a clear set of digital deliverables in support of the university’s brand platform
  •     Oversee and coordinate digital campaign deliverables in the project management system to ensure timeline, approvals and budget are met.
  •     Help define and execute strategies on digital platforms, including social media, with key audiences in mind.
  •     Align work with marketing campaigns and projects developed with the creative services, strategic communications, and marketing teams — as well as marketing professionals from across campus.
  •     Work in concert with OCM directors and AVP to build digital campaigns, and determine the strategies and tactics to help align within a brand platform.
